Can DECT phones be used without a filter with DSL? Are there any DECT phones with a base unit and answering machine (and a separate cordless unit) that can be wall mounted?

  1. No..DECT phones do require a DSL filter. They are the same as most other cordless phones, except they run around 1900 Mhz. instead of the 2.4 or 5.8 Ghz. I have not seen any 'wall mounted' cordless remotes. 'DECT' is kind of a hype, as many cordless phones run with the extra handsets that just plug into a charger around the house. I do not see any difference in performance then a 900, 2.4 or 5.8.....(I've tried them all.!) Have heard of some having 'interference' problems with 2.4 or 900, I have NEVER had that problem. If you buy a decent phone with proper channel search, you will not have a problem. Many say that 5.8 is best for distance and no interference. BALONEY!! I found no difference in range with a 2.4 or 900 Mhz. In fact most ALL 5.8 phones use 2.4 for the base!! AND, in electronics 101, the higher the frequency, at the same power, the less range!! Digital Spread Spectrum does not increase range either. It just 'hops' around on different frequencies. My 900 phones had the best range, and years ago, the 49 Mhz. phones had very good range. I could hear them on a scanner 1/4 mile away!! (I would stay away from V-Tech....)

  2. DECT phone is no different as your 46/69M, 900M, 2.4G, 5.6G Cordless phones as far as their line interface is concerned so there should be no any issue with your DSL.

They only differ with the communication technique between the Base and the Handset. DECT frequency is 1.8G/1.9G.

There are also DECT 6.0 Combo Phones (Answering, Corded handset, Speakerphone, and 4 cordless handsets).
