DEPRESSED PEOPLE!!!!?

How do you deal with your responsibilities when you are extremely depressed and irritable. I am so bad right now and all I want to do is go to sleep but I can’t. How do I get through?

  2. As one who has dealt with clinical depression all my adult life, I have to say, you do what you must.  I grit my teeth, and I do what is expected of me.  There is some grim satisfaction in accomplishing that much.

    Seriously,tho, if you haven't been getting some sort of treatment for your depression, you really ought to.

  3. Ive been through the same thing. Theres no instant was to fix this. It will take sometime but eventualy you will get better but until you get the help you need all you can do is to do your best

  4. You know what helps a lot. Read some inspiring stories from books like Chicken Soup. They can help relate with problems your dealing with and provide some comfort. Not only that but they also help you overcome or seek new options in solving your depression. Don't feel bad, a lot of people go through the same phases in life. Get better!  

  5. I have to focus on one thing at a time. I can get overwhelmed and much worse if I look at everything that must be done. Complete one task at a time, don't beat yourself up over what gets neglected & give yourself credit for what you do accomplish.

  7. Hi i was like you, wanting to sleep all the time. I was a single mother of 3 too.

    I allowed myself to sleep when i felt i needed to, my kids were good and cos they were young they were trained in a way to be quiet and watch tv whilst i did. Not a very responsible way of bringing uop children but i didnt know what else to do. The sleepy feeling was over bearing at times. once i realised sleep was becoming a habit and almost was taking over my life i took myself off to the doctors and he prescribed me anti depressants. Reluctant as i was to take them, it took me 2 weeks to start them, mainly for my kids sake. I also accepted councilling.

    All i would suggest is if your in a position where u could get your head down for a while then do so, go see your doctor and if not already on anti deps maybe consider but atleast discuss your condition with him. and despite everything try and keep a normal life as possible.

    Its hard i know, but at the time of my depression all i was capable of doing (except sleeping), was getting kids up and given breakfast and taken to nursery/school, and i was a volunteer support worker which i did once a week and continued with that. Kids ate beans on toast or cereal quite frequent, as it was easy.

    All this happened 2 and a half years ago for me, its been a struggle to get where i am now but im working part time, my kids eating better, and i sleep at bedtimes.

    Be strong, get help and talk about it. Be open and honest.

  8. Don't read chicken soup for the soul, its the crappest book on earth, I swear. It's like candy that is too sweet, yuck.

    There's no one-stop solution here. You have to get through this on your own. And you have already realised this, as you say: you just wanna sleep but you can't! d**n right you cant, who's gonna pay the rent? Do the essential things, don't starve yourself, but get someone like a relative or friend to give you a hand for a bit, especially if you have kids.

    Treat yourself as if you have a broken leg. It needs time to heal, and you can't just "get over" a broken leg, can you? Let yourself be lazy and sleep loads, if thats what you fancy. But remember that you still gotta go on living, so pay your bills. Slowly force yourself to do small things, think of things as "baby steps". Just one baby step today, washing the dishes. And thats it! Next day, one baby step, paying your phone bill. Done. Don't get crazy lazy, but don't get crazy worried either.

    PS: Stay away from alcohol!!! It depresses the brain and makes everything worse!!

  9. I just do them. Get everything out of the way. Then I go for a nice long bike ride to clear my mind.

  12. Well you have to find your own way to get through it, something that makes you feel good.

    I would dance in the rain at night in the city drinking an ice cold Dr. Pepper.

    But that's just me...

  13. I have been there before and honestly I didn't I just seeked treatment and through time I eventually felt better

    Talk about your feelings with someone you trust

    get a therapist if you don't already have one!!

    remember that all the feelings you are feeling now are completely TEMPORARY

Drink, take some pills, or both.  If there was some miracle home remedy cure as simple as mixing baking soda with water, do you think there would be any depressed people?  We deal with it the only way we know how, by either b*tching to people about it or completely repressing it.  To each his own.
