DFB President Theo Zwanziger renews offer to Michael Ballack for farewell match against Brazil
German Football Association President Theo Zwanziger has renewed the offer for a farewell match to Michael Ballack. The President looks to end the bitter war of words between the midfielder and national team manager Joachim Low.
Joachim Low had earlier revealed that the Bayer Leverkusen player will not be part of his plans in the future and claimed that the decision stood on mutual grounds. Ballack blasted the manager in return, insisting that he was unaware of the decision and called the offer of the farewell match as a ‘farce’.
Zwanziger stated that the midfielder deserves a farewell match after all he has done for his country. He claimed that the manager’s offer was an honest one and Ballack should accept it.
“Michael Ballack has earned an honorable farewell, despite what has happened (in the past days). What Low offered him was an honest offer,” he was quoted as saying.
The President added that the Association bears no grudges with the player and they will always be there to support him. He insisted that it is a great opportunity for the player to thank his supporters who have stood by his side for so many years.
“But we do not bear grudges. The DFB door remains open for him. I think it is a great gesture for the long-time http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858,” he continued.
