The German Bundesliga Sports Enterprises reached an agreement with television network ESPN for the broadcast of live games in Great Britain and Ireland.
The popularity of the Bundesliga continues as the Deutsche Football League has extended its contract with sports network ESPN for the TV rights of league games for the next three seasons. The deal will end in 2015 as a three-year
extension was agreed between the two parties.
DFL Sports Enterprises’ CEO Jorg Daubitzer revealed that the agreement has been extended in Britain and Ireland as ESPN has been a great partner over the last many years. He feels that the German league has a huge fanbase in the
UK which is why the DFL wants to continue its association with the network.
The chief insisted that the sports network has seen great success in countries such as Brazil and the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 and considers ESPN as a reliable partner for many years to come.
“This agreement continues our successful partnership with ESPN in Great Britain and Ireland. ESPN has been a reliable partner for many years in numerous countries, including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 and the USA,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Jeroen Oerlemans, ESPN vice president for Europe, Middle East and Africa expressed his delight on the new deal and insisted that the Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in Europe. He admitted that there are
many German league fans in the UK and the region has a great market for the sport.
“The Bundesliga is a fantastic league and is one of the best in Europe. British football fans know a lot about it and are passionate about their favourite sport. They appreciate top quality matches, players and clubs and, alongside
other top leagues, they therefore pay a lot of attention to the Bundesliga,” Oerlemans concluded.
The German league has seen a huge increase in fanbase all across Europe in the last few years and the deal will turn out to be a success as the quality of the Bundesliga is improving every year. The likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia
Dortmund have a great fanbase all over Europe which includes many supporters in UK also.
