  1. I would suggest first calling your local adoption agency to see what it will take to adopt a baby. Are you just wanting an infant? Or do you want an older child lets say in the 2-4 year old range. Because there are many older children that would like to be adopted and it may not cost as much. Most of these children either do not have or can't go back to their family. Infant adoption is the most expensive, so if you are willing to take in a toddler who needs a home. I would say go that route.

  2. A few things you can do:  See if your work provides a refund.  Also there is a tax credit on adoption fees (In MD it was $10,000; I am not sure if it is a federal thing or state tax) that you got the year the adoption was finalized.   You could also look into taking out a loan.  The agency we used also based what you paid on what your income was to make it more affordable for those who made less.  Have you looked for an agency like this?

I hope you ignore all the negativity that comes through this site.  There are positive people here and the ones who are here for trolling really bring things down.  We all have reasons for what we do and that needs to be respected.  Some of these people really just don't get it!  Good luck to you!

  3. U SHOULD GO THROUGH YOUR LOCAL ADOPTION/ FOSTER AGENCY. U WOULD HAVE TO GET A HOME STUDY, GO TO A FEW CLASSES. WHICH USUALLY TAKES 3 MONTHS WITHOUT CHILDREN OLDER THAN 3 YRS OLD. BUT U CAN GET AN ADOPTION LICENSE IT'S PRACTICALLY FREE. U WILL PROBABLY WILL HAVE TO PAY COURT FEES OUT OF YOUR POCKET, BUT MOST COUNTIES USUALLY WILL REIMBURSE U LATER. IT'S HARDER TO GET AN INFANT WITH JUST AN ADOPTION LICENSE. IT'S USUALLY BETTER TO GET AN FOSTER- TO -ADOPT LICENSE. BECAUSE ALOT OF TIMES WHEN THEY GET INFANTS THE PAREN'TS RIGHTS ARENT TERMINATED YET. U COULD GET BOTH LICENSES AND JUST TELL THEM U ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN INFANTS. THEY WILL ALWAYS CALL BEFORE THEY DROP A KID OFF AT YOUR DOOR STEP AND U CAN ASK ALL THEY QUESTIONS U WANT. IF U DON'T WANT A CHILD U CAN TELL THEM NO AND WAIT FOR THE NEXT CALL.

  5. Just ignore the ignorant comments you see on here.  They don't come from a place of love or wisdom but only bitterness.  It's so sad when people are so unhappy that they can't stand for other people to be happy - pathetic really.

Good for you.  I wish I could offer you a productive suggestion.  I know adoption is extremely expensive because my husband and I have looked into it too for future reference.  I am adoptee myself and would gladly answer any questions you have about my own experience.  Just feel free to email me.

  6. I bet you have a Wal-Mart.

Why not get a job? That's what most people do when they 'want' something.

  7. what is dh?

you can also find out info on your foster care system. you can take in a foster infant at no cost.

don't worry, i won't ask, i wouldn't want to hear reasons you have to not rescue an child through foster care.

  8. your reasons for wanting to adopt a child are personal and i always resepect that in people, try getting a hobbie together or get a loan to give you both this helping hand in collecting the funds you need, i hope the best of luck for you both and have a good holiday
