Have 2 chips - that each hold over 300 pics. Now all of a sudden pics aren't turning out good. I do delete them , but do you need to replace chips - or is something wrong with my camera? SONY CYber-shot 6.0 Mega pixels.

  1. After you put your pictures on your computer, you should format the card each time.  That will erase all of your pictures, and make your card like new.  Try that and see if it helps.  If not, it could be your camera.

  2. The quality of your pictures is not affected by the memory card  or Memorystick (chip).  If there's a drop in quality, it's the camera.

First of all, after downloading your photos, you should format the memorystick in your Sony camera.  That wipes them clean and prepares them for more picturetaking.

Check to see if the lens has gotten scratched or is dirty.  Also, are you using any different settings?  Perhaps your camera is now shooting at a very slow shutterspeed and you are getting blurry photos.  Maybe you've accidently set the camera for closeups (flower symbol) and it can't focus on subjects at normal distances.

If we know more about what was wrong with your photos, we could be of more help.

  3. Most cameras will reset or restore to original settings if batteries are removed for at least one minute.  Insert batteries again and restart the camera.  Remove extra memory to eliminate this as a possible camera problem.

The secret to making digital cameras work better is having good electrical contacts between the batteries and the camera.

Electrical contacts in the camera and on the batteries must be cleaned properly. Digital cameras are high drain devices.  Batteries may have a full charge, but will be viewed by the camera as low if electrical contacts are not really good. Check out the source link for more helpful information.

FORMAT the chips after you save the good pictures. Give the camera time to adjust to the light then hold the button down half way until you get an okay or green light for FOCUS.  Check and clean your lens.
