Question:

DIN adjustment for Salomon S710 bindings?

A friend and I are going to switch gear tomorrow (he boards, I ski) and I need to reset the DIN settings on my old race skis. The bindings are Salomon S710, he's never skied before, my boots are 24.5 ROSSIGNOL XENA X10 LADY WOMEN'S ALPINE SKI BOOT (06/07). I'd say he's about 5'5 or so.

I'd really appreciate answers quickly and I'll choose a best answer.

  1. is he going to fit that boot or whats he going to do

  2. Go to a ski shop, get the weight and boot size DIN setting for your friends weight and ability.  If I remember right the S710 is an old binding and may be out of compliance with the current DIN standards.  I have some S 747's and some S 957 both are now out of compliance and no shop will adjust them.  You are probably better off renting skiis and boots for him for the day, take wax for the skiis.

  3. I hope he wears a size 6 1/2 shoe, otherwise he'll need different boots as well. Then you'll have to adjust more than just the DIN. You'll have to slide the binding as well.

Height has nothing to do with DIN setting.

Since you don't really know much about ski mechanics, he'd be better off renting for the day.
