DIY Backgammon Board, Parts and Guides?

My sister is building her own backgammon board and is having trouble finding chips/checkers the right size (about 3/4") for a decent price (including shipping). I wasn't sure if there were any sites either tohelp create a layout for the board either. Any input would be useful.

  1. How about getting a 3/4" dowell and cutting the pieces.  You can then paint/color/stain them.... cost would be about 2 bucks.
