DIY Flasher 3 volts strobe 2 lights?

I need to make a cheap 2 light alternating flasher for a 3volt set up. I want light A to flash, and then B to flash when light A is off. Similar to the police in dash flashers, but only 3Volts. Its only for a simulation. A would use the 1.5v lights found at every hardware and electrical shop. Thanks in advance.

Simple solution is use a small motor to alternately close lever switches turning the lights on or off. (Such items are available from various sources.)  You will want the motor geared down so the switches are triggered at a reasonable rate.

OR you could use a 555 timer circuit to trigger them on or off, etc.

NOTE:  IF only 1.5v lamps, supply only 1.5v to lamps otherwise you will burn them out.
