DIY airstone for fish tank?

I am not able to get an airstone at the moment but could you tell me if I could make one?

well the only kind I use is DIY, cuz it's just easier for me to make one that travel almost an hour to the "local" walmart to pick one up (the walmart is closer than any petstores...... I live WAAAAY out in the country) anyway, I just take a pantyhose or stocking or whatever you wanna call em, cut the toe off and use a rubber band and rubber band it really tight to the hose, leave a little slack for it to fill up with water to get smaller bubbles, if you put it right up to the opening of the tube, the bubbles will join back together to be bigger bubbles again, so leave a little "ballooning space" It will NOT sink, so you have to achor it with something, I stick my air hose and pantyhose contraption in the back of a pile of large rocks and the bubbles come out all over the place through the rocks, it looks a little crazy, but the fish love it and I like that it does its job splendidly. When the pantyhose get's algae'd up or whatever, or gunked up, just take the other toe and repeat, EASY.
