DLC for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 gets January release date
Activision announce that the first DLC pack for the game will be released near the end of January and will be exclusively for the Xbox 360.
The studio behind the record smashing, fastest selling entertainment product in the history of mankind have confirmed what everyone already knew was coming: a downloadable content pack for Modern Warfare 3.
Activision currently have three studios developing content for Modern Warfare 3 and between the three of them the first of what is sure to be many DLC packs have been announced.
Robert Bowling, the creative strategist at Activision, confirmed via Call of Duty Elite, that not only will their latest game offer a more diverse multiplayer experience as compared to previous games.
He explained, “The way we’re doing downloadable content this year is unlike we’ve never done before. Not only in how you can get it – in content drops or choose for the collection – but also the type of content you’re getting.”
Elaborating a bit further, “We’re doing more than just maps. We’re going to do Spec Ops mission and a variety of things that players have never seen before.”
Whether this is simply good marketing or an exciting new approach to DLCs remains to be seen, but for the time being fans of the series are sure to be excited over the announcement that more Spec Ops content is set to be on its way.
In terms of a release date, Mr. Bowling stated, “The full season of content for Modern Warfare 3 kicks off for Elite subscribers on January 24 on Xbox LIVE.”
While the specifics of the DLC pack have not yet been disclosed, one thing is for sure; the DLC is set for release on the Xbox 360 for the time being. Whether or not it hits the PlayStation 3 or the PC anytime soon is anyone’s guess at this point.
However, if previous trends are anything to go by, one can expect it to be announced for the other two platforms soon.
We will have more on the story as and when it happens.
