DLP or LCD? Which one will last longer?

As of now, which one should I buy? Also, which brands are the best???

lcd and if you want a amazing picture i recommend the xbr5 lcd from sony i work for samsung and i own a sony the lcd screen itself is made by samsung for sony but the tech is sony and xbr series is the flagship for sony u can buy a reg bravia lcd but it will look like c**p compared to the xbr 5 or xbr 4 both have the best picture stay away from lg i had a lg and it is made cheap and desighned very poorly

There is no clear winner in terms of life-span.  

DLP are narrow rear-projector televisions. They are NOT flat so they have become less popular.  However - you can usually get a larger size screen for the same money.

DLP's have a projector bulb & bracket that needs to be replaced about every 3 years.  But this returns the TV to full brightness.  

BRANDS:

Sony KDL-40XBR4 is good as is the Sharp LC-52D64U.  These run about $2800

A sony DLP KDS-60A3000 is a 60 inch rear projector for about $2200  (20 more inches, and $600 cheaper)

These prices are SRP from Jan so they are likely cheaper now.

LCD IS BEST  AND BRAND IS LG ...AS it does not harm ur eyes .. it is also know as liquid crystal display..

DLP is a technology developed by Texas Instrument. It was said had a better picture quality than LCD or Plasma.

LCD is based on liquid crystal display, There are many brands and models in market.  Maybe you can take a visit to Bestbuy and compare.

The Plasma is a matured technology in HDTV market. It is especially better in large size (>42''). The price is lightly higher than LCD.
