DMV Permit & 17 1/2 question

I aquired my driving permit from the DMV today; August 9, 2008 and in order to aquire a license, i'm to complete X hours of practice and i'm also required to hold my permit 6 months before i can issue a license.

I TURN 17 1/2 in september. So my question is that when I turn 17 1/2, will i be able to apply for a driver's license even though I did not complete the WHOLE 6 months?

I need a license to get around faster soon. (for many personal/efficient reasons.)

No, you're required to hold your permit 6 months, that will be February 9, 2009, not September.
