  1. It is not big enough to ride on the highway. I am not sure about your license and tag as well as insurance laws for a scooter in New York. As well as the minimum age of the rider.

  2. The 50mph would depend on a lot of variables, including wind and also riders weight. The small capacity bikes aren't designed to be ridden on a highway, or for long distances.

I guess the real question would be do you feel safe riding a toy bike on a highway at a much slower speed than the surrounding traffic, some of which are trucks?

I own a 1970 Yamaha scooter that is perfect for riding to the shops and back, but if you want to go much over 40mph, forget it. They arent designed for it, and puts strain and stress on the motor trying to.

EDIT: The real answer is if you are dumb enough to ask, and dumb enough not to listen, you will be dumb enough to ride on the highway if its legal or not.

  3. No. You're pretty lucky if you can get 50 out of 49cc. I can possibly get that out of my 70cc Passport, but only downhill. Check a Rules of the Road book for your state.  You need a bigger engine to be legal on the freeway.

  4. NO.

Federal HWY law requires at least 150cc to be able to operated on the HWY (I live in NYC also).

Either way 50cc will NOT get you to 50 mph (myabe if you are going down hill and the wind is behind you but...).

Consider your Ruckus (or any 50cc scooter) a motorized bicycles.  That that is basically how the DMV considers it (with few more rules - like nobody under 16, requires a license, etc.).

    Good luck...

  5. Highway yes, Freeway No, I guess I'm lucky because my 50cc does 62mph.
