Question:

DMV vision failure. Help?

I am near-sighted. I passed my vision test the first time I applied for my DL ( Driver License) narrowly. I am pretty young, too. I'm just 24 years old. I have been driving since the age of 17 and I have never met in an accident. I also never received a violation ticket for anything, never once. I see just fine, but since I am near-sighted It's pretty difficult for me to read those tiny little letters at the DMV department.

I recently visited my eye-specialist and he said I have 25 in the right eye and 24 in the left eye, which is very good. But he said he can't correct my near-sight problems. However, he said I am qualified to drive.

I understand people with poor vision should refrain from driving to keep the road safe. But are only people with poor vision cause problems on the road? My vision has not gotten worse from when I passed my vision test at DMV. I rarely passed my vision test.

What else should I do?

  1. If you passed the test, you're okay to drive. Most of the objects in the road (other cars, stop signs, etc) are so large that you would be able to see them with horrible vision. The tests are so strict, that if you couldn't see well enough, you wouldn't pass. For example, I was unable to pass the test without wearing glasses. But the only time I wear glasses is when I drive. I can see well enough with my uncorrected vision to get along fine everywhere else. The only thing you might have a problem with is frogs crossing the street.

  2. just make sure you take the test with your glasses on
