Question:

DNA testing and ADOPTION?

Hello. I was adopted as a baby and have been unsuccessful in tracing any of my genetic family. However, I understand that there are DNA tests avaliable to determine where (geographically and historically) my ancestors came from. Could someone explain how to go about this and how much it might cost (in £). Thankyou in advance for your help.

  1. I'm not sure about dna testing, but as someone looking into adopting, I would suggest trying some geneology or family tracing websites, especially if u think there could be some biological family looking for you. just try typing either term into a search engine. good luck!

  2. I'm pretty clueless about this subject but I looked online and maybe this website will help give you what you need...

  3. Here are a few links that might be able to help you.

    http://www.dnaancestryproject.com/

  4. The Genographic project shows the migration patterns out of Africa of your distant ancestors. It costs about 100.00 for either maternal or paternal genetic mapping.

It won't help you find your immediate biological family, but I feel it's pretty profound to see our connectedness to the human species for thousands of years.
