  1. I agree with Ike (and remember, it's about R11 per LITRE not gallon)

  2. not all petrol stations take credit cards. its just one of those things that happens here. also not all restaurants take those little plastic strips.

as for petrol prices they have hit close to R11 but should go down by R1 next month. diesel is R11.50 or somewhere around there and will also go down..

  3. not all take card

  4. Thats true that gas stations dont take credit cards BUT they do take foreign credit cards. I was at the petrol station at the waterfront in Cape Town, and they took it , as it was a foreign one, they said they cant take local ones.

Most restaurants take cards, but not all take Amex.

  5. Garage card or cash.

  6. Yes, none take credit cards for gas. Most accept garage card for gas. However you can still use your credit card for convenience stores purchases.

As for restaurants, many accept major credit cards. One major card that I know is mostly not accepted by the restaurants is Amex. I know because I use it.

  7. I just got back from a trip to South Africa and Namibia. i didn't find one single gas station that accepts credit card payments - you definitily need cash! now getting cash should not be a problem - either you'll find an ATM in the gas station or close by at an bank branch. beware, only ATM's with the "maestro-sign" are accessable to foreigners.

restaurants and hotels normally accept credit cards, but you'd better ask if they do before having dinner

  8. None take credit cards. You need a garage card.
