  1. i think they do.

i had a gold fish for 11 years and when we'd go to bed

she'd stay in one place and when we'd wake up she'd still be there

and we'd open the top to feed her and she'd start swimming again.

  2. Yes, they do :3 lol

  3. They kind of just rest at the bottom. All of my fish just sit real still or lay right at the bottom. They usually start activity when the lights come on.

  4. i believe they do, i know my beta likes to sit at the bottom of his tank and likes to rest! (and its hard to get his attention)

  5. Yup, so at night turn off your filter (if you have one).

  6. yes fish sleep

  7. yes they do and they are able to because of the oils in their body leaves thm at the same level . however not for a long period of time.  also the shark(a fish) doesnt sleep because it doesn't suck in the water is passes it through its gills  , like usual fish , it swims to pass the water and get oxygen.

  8. Yes. All creatures sleep, even fish. You may or may not see them sleep though because some of them are nocturnal. That means that they are awake durring the night and sleep during the day. Most pet fish sleep during the night though. I always wondered too till someone told me recently.

    Hope that helped!!! :D

  9. As I understand it, fish don't sleep the same way we do. Instead, they have periods of low activity, including low brain activity.

I'm guessing that 'seeing' is actually done with the brain rather than the eyes. The eyes just gather information. So, if the brain isn't in a state conducive to seeing (asleep, for instance), then it simply won't process signals from the eyes. Therefore, I don't think the fish sees much while asleep.

But I imagine that, even if fish don't see all that much when they are relaxing, or fish-sleeping, they might  see just a little bit. I say this because if I were a fish, high on my wish list would be the ability to spot predators and react appropriately even while kicking back. I think fish are pretty paranoid about being eaten — even while asleep! Perhaps this is why they don't have eyelids in the first place.

  10. yes they do well it looks like it is dead but it is not they don't have eyelids

  11. they rest, the gills keep moving for oxygen

  12. yes they do fish have NO eyelids so they sleep with there eyes open

  13. I don't think anyone really knows. Fish don't have eyelids so they can't really close their eyes, but my fish sorta stop being so active at night... maybe it's just lack of light...

  14. YES !!! fish do sleep. They sleep down at the bottom or hid very well behind plants. When their asleep they dont mave...but any disturbance will wake them up
