DO I need to take the written test to get my drivers permit in washington state?

  1. I believe you only do if you are not enrolled in drivers ed.  If you are in drivers ed I dont think you have to.

    When I got my permit, I didnt have to take a written test, only when I went for my license.... but that was *gulp* 7 years ago... almost 8.

    I would check with the DMV for more info though.  Good luck :)

    PS Yes I am in Wa state.


  2. Well First youo need to complete a certified drivers education course.  Then take your certificate to the DMV.  Yes of course you have to take a written test.  This is the only way to get your permit.

    Here is a good Drivers Ed course....also remember that 90% of teens fail their written exam the first time....so study hard.

    if you're not in  a drivers ed class and are 15 1/2 or older you have to take the knowledge test

    the link above has all sorts of info about permits and licensing

    good luck and the test is pretty easy
