ok so when I was in the third grade I got into a car accident and broke my nose. My doctor didn't do much he just said put sunscreen on it. So anyways now my nose is jacked up. I told my mom if I can get surgery to fix it. She said maybe when I am older. Im 14, I know I can't get it now. But when I asked my doctor he said I could get it when i am 16. My mom said I have to wait till in my 20s. It really bothers me that I had to have my nose broken cause of another careless driver. Do u think my mom is right that i should wait that long even if my doctor says when Im 16?

  1. your nose keeps growing until you are 16. your mom probably just wants to be sure you are done growing so that your nose won't reshape after the surgery.

  2. Try your best to persuade her. If she doesn't buy it, start saving up. You can get it when you're 18, and your mom can do anything about it.

  3. In addition to the first answer, your mom might not have the money to spend on cosmetic surgery (expensive!) so she's waiting for you to be in your 20's and can afford to get it yourself.  Saving up for college is a better way to spend that money rather than "prettying" up for the benefit of... not sure.  Who?  Hopefully, your self-confidence and self-worth doesn't rely on the shape of your nose...

  4. you should make sure that you are aware after you are 16... about any pros and cons and possible complications you can have from having surgery. I personally think that if someone wants to get a little surgery to make themselves feel better then GO FOR IT.. i haven't had any myself YET.. but i do plan to in the near future!

  5. you should talk to her about it if you really want your nose to be alright. just so you know, having nose surgery is the most painful thing.

  6. Hey,

This might not really help but I think that you shouldn't get surgery because it might just complicate things more, besides even if it all did work out, i just wouldn't do it. If you think that your nose looks bad, i doubt that that is true, mabye it just doesn't look like other people's do. Any surgery that is for cosmetic reasons, in my opinion, is a waste. Whoever will love you later in life shouldn't care about your flaws anyway, and besides anyone who does care shouldn't be worth it. Unless you are born with severe dis proportions you should NOT GET SURGERY!!!!!!

Do whatever you think but I don't recommend it -this is coming from someone around your own age ;)

  7. FYI, your nose and ears never stop growing. =]

But sweetie, you should really wait. So many things could go wrong, and you might go through h**l if at 14 you get plastic surgery.

Some things such as a different nose gives you character. Why be like anyone else?

    Stay young. good luck. =]

  8. okay, you wanna talked "jacked up" noses?  i was born with a hare lip and a cleft palate.  i've had six nose jobs in my life and i have to get one every 5 to 10 years because, as previously mentioned, the nose never stops growing and mine keeps trying to exit stage left.

rhinoplasty (nose job) is PAINFUL.  put it this way:  get someone to smash you in the face with a cricket bat - that is seriously how painful it is.

when you first wake up, you're sick from the anaesthetic and your throat is raw as h**l from the tube they jammed down it while you were under.  your nose is blocked up solid and throbs like crazy.  sometimes, depending if they had to break it or not, your eyes are swollen nearly shut.  your bed is cranked up so you're nearly upright and trust me, it's NOT comfortable sleeping in that position.  your mouth is dry and leathery and tastes NASTY cause you can't breathe through your nose so you've been mouth-breathing all night.  you can't talk because you sound like a pitiful "gartood garagder" and you keep swallowing blood and snot that's running down the back of your throat (post-nasal drip).  then the nurse comes in and says "okay, time to remove the packing!"

which is when you realize there's these cotton wool plugs hanging out your nostrils.  she puts a hand on your forehead and rams your head firmly into the mattress and with her other hand, she takes the ends of the plugs and rips them out with one swift movement - and the suckers are a foot long!

    it HURTS!!!!!

your nose immediately swells up twice it's size and a mack truck parks in your sinuses.  you can't see because of the black spots and stars.

when you look in the mirror, you look like something frankenstein tossed out as a bad job.

it takes a few weeks for all the swelling and bruising and the major pain to go away , the stitches come out (if they'er not dissolving ones) in about ten days.  your nose will be tender for about three months.

trust me, wait until your nose is as developed as it's going to get as an adult.

  9. Well you have to have a parents consent to go into surgery until you are 18. But i would want my nose fixed too, no it's not fair, but maybe what is best. Your mom is just trying to be protective and caring for you. She is probably worried about you going under the knife. What mom isnt? I mean threre are chances of dying. I would just want until you are 18. And you can ask for her support but, you may not get it. Paying for it might be up to you, if you don't wait. Just do what is right! Im sure you look very pretty and people dont even notice. Good Luck in the future whatever you do!!!!!
