  1. yea that's what i heard or at least the experience of home schooling a kid

  2. Impossible. Because they can't monitor your lessons and they don't know your method of teaching.

I think it is not advisable because your kid could learn a lot if he is able to deal with different kind of people.

  3. I've never heard of a homeschooling license. Some states require different levels of education, but nope, no homeschool license.

  4. No

Some states require the parents to hold at least a high school diploma and in a rare instance a 4 year college degree, but only if they are teaching them directly.

Use of an accredited program usually has no problems.

  5. It all depends on the state. Some states are very anti-homeschooling and others are homeschooler friendly. I suggest to contact your states education department to find out. Do not call your local school's superintendent! Some superintendents are nice and will tell you the truth about the laws, but others will be outright liars because they are more concerned about their jobs than the kids education so they will try to steer you away from hschooling by telling you false things about the laws. Bottom line it depends on your state.

  6. Yup. And you should be accredited with the government. (This is in our place)

  7. Some states have a schooling option that requires a teaching certification, but as far as I know they all have an alternative (such as an umbrella school) for parents without one.

And honestly...a teaching certification shows that you are capable (supposedly) of teaching one or more classes that each have upward of 20-30 kids.  The logistics of homeschooling are completely different.  I homeschool my child, and I know his needs, interests, developmental levels, strengths, and weaknesses inside and out.  I know what he's able to do, what he likes and doesn't like to do, and the skills that are necessary for him to learn.  I can structure his particular curriculum both around his developmental needs and around the progress that he needs to make this year.

Do I need a teaching certification to do that?  No...I need to be a conscientious, hard-working parent.  Am I putting down the value of a certification?  Of course not - I highly respect teachers.  I'm just saying that a homeschool is not a venue that requires such a certification.  The logistics are completely different.

    Hope that helps!

  8. No. In no state do you have to have a license, some states do offer less inconvenience if you do have a teaching license (Colorado being the first state that pops into my head)

Requirements do vary from state to state, some require that parents have a bachelors degree, others may just require a high school diploma. Still others have no requirements as to the education of the parent.

  9. Not in our state (MA) nor have I heard of anywhere that does....but I have not checked myself...... Either way, research shows that overall homeschoolers do better acedemically than most public schoolers regardless of their parents educational level....interesting isn't it?

  10. Very few states require certification or licenses of any kind.  In the state where I live I simply have to inform the local district of my decision, and have my kids tested yearly.

  11. Not in our state.  The state requires a high school diploma or GED for at least one parent.  The state also does not require license or degree for private school teachers.

  12. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! i am homeschooled and my mom has no teaching experience at all.  i pretty much teach myself now that i am older but when younger, she had a book that told her what to do!!! :)

    BE HAPPY

  13. It depends on the state you are in. State laws and regulations on homeschooling are different. Check out the website Homeschool Legal Defense Association. They have everything you would want to know about homeschooling, including state laws and requirements. Just for the record, I live in New York and we are not required to have a license, but the laws are strict, and they require a lot of accountability about making sure you are actually educating your kids, including standardized testing.

  14. not in new Jersey!

  15. No. bottom line.

  16. Not where I live.
