  1. yes you want to continue to use the pcv valve in that engine. it will extend the life of the oil and improve your gas mileage because that valve will help to pull the blow by gases out of the crank case and cycle them back into the engine.

  2. on a non emissions engine, No, they had a vent tube that hooked into the pcv hole and was routed down in back of the engine and faced the ground.

  3. Yes.  If no PCV valve is installed in the system you would quickly see a build up of a milky residue once the oil filler cap was removed.

The PVC valve operates off manifold vacuum & is installed in the rocker cover.  Either a filtered cap is installed, or filtered air is plumbed in from the air filter to another port on the opposite rocker cover.(V6 V8)

The filter air is drawn through the engine, along with any condensation, unburnt fuel, or other internal gases & are burnt in the combustion process.

  4. yeah, otherwise air pressure builds up in the crankcase where the oil is and it is forced up into the cylinders and your car becomes an oil burner.

  5. No, as long as you still have a proper breather cap in place of where the hose is located on the valve cover. The positive pressure still needs to vent out to aid blow-by.
