well what i think is that to be 100% selfless, wouldnt that mean that every single thought and emotion you had revolve around other people. so not people you know because then you would be wanting to protect them or what ever because it would hurt you too if they got hurt. or if your helping some one you dont know, if your nice enough to protect them in the first place, wouldnt it be partly because it would hurt you to know they got hurt because you were to lazy t6o protect them?what do you think?

  1. Some people see charity or volunteerism as selfless, but it's not entirely selfless in many cases because it boosts your reputation. Some may do it out of boredom and feel like they should do something widely considered positive and meaningful with their free time.

  2. some people are wired to fix other wires

  3. no

  4. Almost impossible.  It is said one who becomes totally enlightened will leave the body within only a few days. The mind would find no more reason to listen to the body's demands for food and air, for example. One would soon disincarnate.

Even with awakening, a certain trace of ego must remain to act as a "caretaker" for the body.

  5. If you have very very very strong will power. :)

  6. yes hes called "the Buddha" and there have been others.

  7. Yes it is possible, if you are in a coma. Your description of the necessary situation explains why. No one could entirely forget about his/her own needs, wants, desires, and consciousness. How do you do the bidding of others without at least having thoughts of your own? Those thoughts would prevent 100% selflessness.

  8. no it is not possible.  human beings are simply not hardwired that way.

  9. There are moments when humans are

selfless.  It would be impossible to

    be selfless 24/7.

There wouldn't be any time for

personal needs.  There is a time

under the sun for everything, include

    selflessness.

  10. Neither possible,nor desirable!

  11. I think you thought way to deep into that question.  It is human nature to think about yourself.  If you didn't take time out for yourself once in a while you would be no good for anyone else.  Doing for others also helps your own health and well being.  It is the circle of life.

  12. ...yes, try it ...life is easier when its your own way to be...

  13. If you feel good out of being selfless then it isn't selfless.

  14. I think it's possible to be selfless when you are dead.  But before that, probably not.

  15. Yes in some instances. No not constantly.
