DO yOU LiKE SAMOAN PEOPLE??

Question

I didn’t ask this question in a negative way. I’m just asking because

I have talked with some people that don’t like samoan people due to

certain reasons. I am a samoan myself so that’s why I ask the question.

i am going to start off by saying that i am not sure how this question was posed or meant...but i am not going to assume negatively. so will try to give a rather neutral and simple response.

speaking generally as a samoan born and raised in samoa i can honestly say that culturally we are very, very friendly. im not going to get into the details and bore you but in general we are a very friendly people. friendliness and hospitality are important things in our culture. aside from respect, being the basis of our culture.

as far as for samoans in new zealand, yes there are a good number of samoans in nz and they are just as samoan as the rest and most of them manage to maintain the culture which is greatly admired, but there are still some cultural differences growing up in new zealand versus samoa.

and as far as samoans having a bad work ethic, that really is a bad stereotype...which honestly made me laugh when reading it. however, i must say it has some truth to it to a certain extent. we are generally hardworkers and take pride in our work but at the same time, in general, we are very, and i do mean VERY laid back and easy going. almost a little too laid back..lol...but that isnt necessarily a bad thing. we are just very relaxed and easy going and tend to live a rather laid back lifestyle.

so again, i am not sure exactly how this question was posed, whether in a negative view or not...but if it is the result of a bad experience with a samoan...dont let that cloud your idea of samoan people in general. i cant say for a fact that ALL samoans are nice or friendly, but in general MOST of us are.

and samoans are not always big....scary...violent....

those are just stereotypes...we arent always like that. there are smaller samoans, and we are only violent when necessary...lol...scary..well thats subjective...

but again....im generally speaking....

i just wanted to add that im glad to see most people who responded think of us as friendly and nice...we really are!

Grew up with them,suppose you get that being from NZ and all... the guys are choice to hang out with some of the girls can be b.i,t,c.hes but I think that comes with the territory...

other than that they havent done anything wrong to me...

yeah!! i had a samoan friend in high school and he was HUGE! he was the friendliest guy, just always trying to keep everyone laughing and having a good time. i guess thats how their culture is. i just dont get why everyone there is so big (not fat, just big like football players) he actually was in football lol theyre just big and nice!
