Most Special child are deprived to go to school due to some special reasons....they are at home and even neglected in some of their needs, yes parents give them the basic needs (food, shelther, big love) but if not educated/ trained were will they go. Isn't it that it is much better to educate/train them and give them their job, For this Special People to survive. for their living? than serving them from the time they live until they die?

  1. it all depends on the level of disability and each individual's functionality

I know plenty of mentally challenged people working at McDonalds, a shipping facility near me, and even an assembly line for toys

many opportunities open for many people

  2. Ok, I'm going with you do not live in the United States or Great Britain. In the United States, as a previous poster stated, there are programs at every level that teach lifeskills to the disabled and in highschool, if they are high functioning, they are in a transition program that trains them for the work force and either living on their own or in a group home. For those children who are not high functioning, like my own child, who will never have a job etc, yes I will be responsible for her care until one of us dies, but that does not mean her life is not productive. She brings a lot of joy to a lot of people and they are all better off for knowing her. Children who cannot earn a living may be able to "help" at libraries, nursing homes, etc. This is NOT some kind of "look at my kid, isn't she great" thing for the parent, like someone else thinks. This is to provide the child with a rewarding experience and the company of others in, yes, a productive way.

  3. Yes. Of course the specail children can be made productive. They are imparted special training and education, prferably in the fields of "art", such as "music", to manufacture toys from earth, to make leather goods. The special childrern should also be encouraged to participate in games, such as cricket, hockey , Cards, etc. etc. They can produce well. The special children should also be categorized keeping in view their incapability, The dumb children will be more productive in manufacturing things by hands, such as leather good. Whereas the blind children can take parts in music, such as , Harmonium and singing songs. I had my cousin who was not capable to commjnicte due to his dumbness, but he was very intelligent for copying habits of other person . I  therefore feel that  special children are 100% productive if trained properly.

  4. What country are you from?  In the United States, children eligible for special education have the right to be educated according to their individual needs and postsecondary education and work goals.  In high school, children in special education begin planning for transition from school to work including vocational education or college preparatory courses.  Vocational Rehabilitation may become involved in making this transition possible.  These services are lacking, but the mandates for them exist.

  5. Yes I agree. I had a relative through a past marriage who had a child with Dow's syndrome. She was trained and educated by her parents and they got her the right help. She did very well and was at least as capable as.....George Bush. Kidding aside she was as capable as anyone and could learn a job and support her self. The problem is that the jobs they will get are low paying. Carl's Junior employs special people. One of the grand children of the family is special. So they are involved in this endeavor

The problem is we have people who have no handicap who are being paid 10-15 dollars an hour and can't possibly live in a house at this wage. What chance do the people who have Dow's or autism have? They need help from the government that does not get in their way. Help with living facilities and health care. Help getting work that will make them feel better about themselves. Today with little help for people with mental illness and special needs many end up in jails. Some on death row. Many special needs kids are born into poverty. They don't get the chance to get the help they need. Without fixing health care that is based on profit only this will continue. Special needs people tend to get sick easier and have other physical problems. They die younger. Most barely make it through their thirties.

The problem needs to be seriously addressed.

  6. McDonalds. In all seriousness, they are some of McDonalds competent employees.

They also have incentive programs and things that cater towards mentally handicapped.

Id worked with stock clerk who was severely autistic, as well.  He did light stocking, trash, cleaning etc.

  7. Some yes some no..those that are not nothing more than tokens on a shelf for the proud parents to gaze at.

  8. Where are YOU living!? There are special people all around you in many jobs throughout your city-maybe you just don't know it.

There are thousands of job coaches and vocational rehabilitation training and hiring the people. Public and private schools educate all kinds of special needs- its the law.

  9. none

  10. The things that go beyond our own minds.

  11. Absolutely!  What country are you in where your special needs children do not go to school?  People are not happy if they are not productive.  Even some of the most disabled persons can be productive in some way.  Technology is so advanced today that a person can operate machines by flipping a switch with their heads.  There is no excuse for anyone to be deprived of an education  and an opportunity to be productive.

  12. Special people are very limited. They can be trained to do many things. Trouble being jobs do not pay well for the type of work they are able to do. They cannot possibly support themselves plus handle all the various medical expenditures. While some employers do hire them, pay and hours are poor. Plus demographics come into play. I do support employment for them. It is just very stressful, and not always in their best interest.
