  1. Chances are that the lookout was drunk or tumbled across a tall-ship flotilla.

Even in our safety-conscious world, it's near impossible to keep a lookout from showing up for watch drunk.

In heavy fog, I've seen some oddball stuff while on bow lookout, or even through the windshield when I later made captain. Imagination does amazing stuff.

Chances are, what you heard is a total myth, given new life courtesy of the 'net.

There's better ghost stories out there!

  2. Sounds like an imprint to me.

Sometimes when horrific things occur...the area has an "imprint" of the event . Which plays back like a video tape would...repeating the event over and over. If the occurrences happens and is different each time you are there...then its a haunting(spirits stuck here for one reason or another).Do I believe that theres spirits stuck at sea...sure.

    Have a great Easter

  3. No, it is a trick of the mind.  Have spent many hours in the fog and your mind will see things that are not there.

  4. There are ghost ships that roam the seven seas, they have been cursed to sail until the end of time. In just the right light, when the fog reflects the other world, these ships can be seen by mere mortals. There are no graves for these men and their mistresses of the sea. What the cruise ship must have seen was some sort of rendezvous of these forgotten souls.

  5. Yep, and they all lie on the bottom.
