DO you ever feel like your work is done here on earth and that you're just biding time? ?

I hate to be a downer, but sometimes I really feel like I have no purpose anymore. My only child is 25 and doing her own thing, I'm divorced but in a relationship: but it sometimes just feels like I've lived my life already. It's a scary feeling.

Sometimes I feel the way you do. I have a husband and a 15 year old son, and I still often feel that my life is done. I am fifty years old.

They say that without modern medical science, our life span would be about 50, maybe a little over. That may be why we feel the way we do.

But I meet people in their 60's and 70's who feel renewed in their purpose for life, so I think the feeling we're having is just temporary. If other people come out of it enthusiastically finding purpose, then we will too.

oh god wiser!  i do know how you feel.  i'm 23 and i'm living out of my boyfriend's parents house (it's pretty much the brady bunch on acid) and i am struggling to get out and find a teaching job.  i have had some amazing experiences that i don't think the average person has, but who knows.

i am honestly ready to pass.  like seriously and it's not a depression thing, it's a spiritual thing.

I also went through a divorce and my child is grown. Honey, it's about YOU now!. Go out and have fun : dance, discover new hobbies, take classes. Do things you've always wanted to do but couldn't. Get out in the world! You have lived part 1 of your life, but now is part 2. And don't let those nasty ageist stereotypes stop you. You are free! Reinvent yourself-why you could even get a tattoo-or move to the wilderness, I don't know you, so can't say. Have you seen the movie "Forever Young?" . I found it inspiring to see these old people doing what they love. Just remember, it is all about YOU now. Have fun-and that is an order!!

wow what a bad way to feel!  i dont even have a relationship but i am always excited about what is coming or what is next.  always been that way.  do you have anything ever to look forward to?  best of life to you

i think i know how you feel. i was feeling this, but im not to old. but its just like, "alright now i pretty much am waiting till the day i die and nothing more is going to happen to exciting to me" so yeah, thats why people aren't meant to live forever. and at the same time its still scary to think you wont be here one day. but while you are here you don't need to think of that, you just got to make it the best you can, because you would rather look back on knowing you made it all the most of somthing then nothing at all. you mite be looking back at all the things you used to be doing and how there mite not be to much to do these days anymore, but while your still alive you make the best of it.
