Question:

DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND A (PREFERABLY ANTIQUE) DRESS FORM FOR SEWING AND DECORATIVE PURPOSES?

I've heard thus far:

Craigslist

Ebay

Make your own..

None have helped me, because shipping is pricey and craigslist didnt have any in my area. Making your own isnt helpful because i really want it as a decorative piece for antique fashioned theme room.

I'm 15 (almost 16) years old, i want to be an interior designer, and i absolutely love to sew without following patterns.

Im very creative and would love one.

Please, if anybody has spotted them on Long Island, or even in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, please let me know....

I'm trying to stay away from websites because of high priced shipping.

If anyone has any other suggestions please feel free to let me know!

Thanks so much!

  1. Antiques shops.

Put an ad in a local newspaper.

  2. You could still make ur own out of duct tape (google it) and then cover it with a vintage fabric or paint it or silkscreen it or a variety of surface techniques that would still make it usable.  I you used a christmas tree stand or something similar, old birdhouse stand, pole from home depot, old wrought iron pole, etc.  You can always paint it with a fake patina to make it look old.  They have plenty of faux patinas at the crafts store.  Be creative with the dress form.  Paint it, patina it, make it your own work of art!  And then use it to make your own clothes.
