Hi people! My 16 year old Long Hair Chihuahua seems to have some goo or something in his left eye! I have no idea what it is! If you look closely in the light you can see it in the middle of his eye! Its like someone rubbed goo on it! The other eye is normal though! And the eye with the goo seems to open a little less sometimes, if you know what I mean! Please help! Im thinking about taking him to the vet! But I wanna know about what this is! Thanks!

  1. Your Chihuahua has an eye infection and needs to see the vet.  The vet will prescribe optimmune eye ointment.   The ointment is expensive but it will clear it up. You will have to apply this for at least two months. Your dog will not go blind.  Good luck

  2. This happened to our Chihuahua as well, we took her to the vet and it turns out that eye became blind.  Do you notice on that side of the head if you move your hand around it doesn't see it so it won't react.

We only got some eyedrops, and it didn't help any but the good eye was much better as far as we could tell.

  3. Considering the dog's age, it could be cataracts, glaucoma or a foreign body in the eye. If it does not appear to hurt the dog, then it is probably due to its senior age. Take him to the vet to rule out something serious or that can be easily treated with medication.

  4. I think it is a cold in his eye! Sometimes cats or dogs get them in there eye caused from weather conditions. You can wipe there eyes with warm salt water dip a rag in it and wipes its eye. It's usually green so if its weird colored i would take it to the vet.

  5. the dog might have some kind of eye infection or something worse!  you should hurry up and take him to the vet!

  6. He`s Fine, He just has a Cold in his eye, that`s all! Take a warm cloth and wipe His eye gently everyday so you wont have to spend money at the vet so that the vet can tell its just a little Infection in his eye. I think your getting very worried about your dog because He`s getting so old.

  7. well im not trying to scare you but if it looks like red goo it could be cancer on his eye my friend had an old dog who had the same thing but they got it removed and he's fine but definatly take him to the vet right away! Good Luck i hope he's ok!

  8. Another possibility is an ulcer. If the "goo" hasn't moved at all from its location, and seems the same after a few hours or days, my guess would be ulcer. That has to be diagnosed by a flourescent stain.
