DOING something about child abuse?

Question

I live in Ontario, Canada.

I was reading an article about a 2 year old who was beaten to death by her mothers boyfriend- he used a video game controller to do it. I am just sick to my stomach about it.

I have decided I really really want to do something about child abuse. I have 2 kids (ages 6, my son- and 1, my daughter). I admit sometimes I am so madly in love with my children. I mean, sometimes I get frustrated and raise my voice, sometimes I am just not up to another game of go fish, but I love love love them. It makes me so sad to know that somewhere children aren't being treated like kids- they're being treated like punching bags. It's sickening.

I want to DO something about this. I live in rural Ontario, and I just want to help somehow... what can I do, how can I become a SOLUTION???

How about assisting in a parenting skills class for moms?  Education is key to solving many problems.  If there isn't a local class, perhaps you could start one through your church, social services agency or women's shelter?

You can help people if they tell you or you children that they have signs of being abused. that's the best, probably by telling a policeman, other than that, you need to just be glad your not an abuser because you know your children would never be actually abused because of you.

Maybe you could get involved with the local school and have a pro-

gram about what young kids should do if they are ever in that type of

situation.  You could something similar to what McGruff did to "Taking

A Bite Outta Crime" campaign.  Good-luck

one good way is maybe volunteering at an adoption or daycare center. show kids love and affection. helping find loving homes for children to grow up in. i love that u want to help!

If you arent worried about money, you can volunteer in an orginzation in your area to help out.  It is a really sad thing, but I am happy when i hear people like you willing to help out

i hear ya! i wish there is something i cud do. but the only thing u really can do, is adopt abused kids and love them! i wud do it myself, but im only a teen! when im older, i only want to have 1 kid of my own, and adopt a bunch who were abused! u cud also become a foster parent!
