  1. How can you be scared of whales but not scared of dolphins?

And yes, be prepared for some encounters. "Whales" such as the Killer Whale (also known as the Orca) and the Pilot whale are actually dolphins. The two groups are very similar, especially toothed whales, and dolphins.

However, if you insist on not working with whales, and you are good at what you do (you need to be worth the fuss in their eyes!), then you shouldn't have a problem.

  2. It sounds as if you have some time to spend before you complete your education and get ready to look for a job.  Maybe you will find that education helps you get past your fear.  You might even try to get some counseling or gain some practical experience that will help.

It's not a problem to be afraid.  It's how you handle it.  Lots of people have jobs that can be a bit scary at times, and having a healthy respect for what you do CAN help keep you alive.  That's always true in working with animals, no matter what species.

    Good luck.
