I have heard people say a lot like...are you done...I am done...etc.

but seldom hear...I am finish, or are you finish. Now I was told that saying done was when you got through cooking, or baking. With finish was when you were finish working, washing car, mowing grass, etc.

  1. I usually say im finished after im done with some work. Either one works for me tho.

  2. Why yes, I am Finnish > but only 50%.

But I say either are you finished doing whatever, or are you done yet?

  3. They Kinda Mean The Same Thing,

    Finish:

stop: to come to an end, or bring something to an end

    We've finished eating.

Can we finish work for tonight?

    Done:

    concluded: completed or finished

  4. are you finishED would be correct in all cases.

are you DONE is rather colloquial, and more prevalent in the U.S.A that other English speaking places...although they (we) are beginning to pick it up due to the influence of American made movies and TV

  5. are u finished is right grammatically but it really does not matter. people say what they want to.
