DRESDNER SC defeats SCHWERINER SC by 3-2 in a German Bundesliga match
The SCHWERINER SC women’s volleyball team had a match with the DRESDNER SC squad recently.
The two teams met each other in a match of the German Bundesliga. The tournament is currently being staged in the German city of Schwerin.
The clash between the two sides was much anticipated as one team was the champion of the previous Bundesliga whereas the other was the runner’s up. As a result, the turnout at the contest tallied to show a total of 1,455 spectators that came to watch the
match which took five long and thrilling sets to reach its close.
Despite the fact that the defending champions SCHWERINER were playing on their home turf, they could not recapture the victory and lost the match to the guests. By the time a disappointed home side was trudging their way out of the court, a jubilant guest
squad was celebrating their well deserved at the following final set scores: 15-25, 25-11, 22-25, 25-22 and 15-7.
The first set of the match saw both the sides come out strong but before the frame could reach much further, the home team was able to grab themselves a lead and put on a spurt of speed to extend their advantage. The guest team tried to close in the gap
but there was no stopping the SCHWERINER squad as they propelled themselves forwards for a quick opening-set win at 25-15.
The loss of the first set enabled the guests to rally themselves together and step up their game which showed a significant increase in their performance.
As a result, the guests were able to take a lead early on and stretch their advantage far into the game. The home team could not catch and the guests were able to make the match reach a tie by winning the second frame at 25-11.
The third and the fourth sets of the match were the toughest of all for both the teams as the frames remained close all through. The third was won by the home team while the guests bagged the fourth to make the match reach the fifth set. The guest’s team
made a quick job of the fifth set, securing it at 15-7.
