DRIVING BAN - when is it coming in?

Hi,

I'm 16 and born in November 1991.. will I be able to drive when I am 17? Does anyone know when they'r raising the age limit?

My personal opinion is that the age to learn to drive should be 17, but it should be in a slow low powered car. The Citroen 2cv was a brilliant example of a good learner car. If you could master the controls and vehicle handling, and learn to drive in one, then you would make a bloody good driver when you went on to a normal car such as  a good handling hot hatch.

That rumours been going around for a couple of years now.

The only thing that's changed is that the theory test has become more difficult.

They're also talking about not allowing new drivers on the road on their own for a year after their test but even if that did come in any time soon you'd still be able to drive!

Assuming you are in the UK, this rumour about the minimum age being raised to 18 has been going around for as long as I can remember. They are NOT putting up the minimum age... yet.

They are thinking about it, however. But before it will become law, bills will have to go through Parliament and that process alone will take years. Then they'll set a date for the change, which will be still more years.

I have an 8 year old daughter - I think she may be amongst the first to have to wait to 18.

As far as I'm concerned, the sooner they change it the better. But don't worry for now.

Yes They cant do it at the moment due to high complaints and 17 Year olds taking there driving lessons....

The age restriction ban will be out in the next 7 years

This rumour seems to go around all 16 yr olds.  I don't think the govt. has passed the necessary legislation to change the age yet.

Check with the local authorities. Different states and different localities are doing different things. Some states already have adopted the 18 yr old rule.
