DRS in place by PCB - Cricket News Update
The use of Decision Review System will be in place for the upcoming series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board officials, along with T20 captain, Mohammah Hafeez, have verified and supported claims for the
implementation of the technology.
A PCB official stated that a deal with sponsors is in its final stages, which will provide the necessary funding to install the DRS in the series.
“We’re very much in favour of having the DRS in ODI and Test matches and we see the Australia series as a good platform to promote the technology,” he was quoted as saying.
It is up to the host country to decide whether to use DRS but the recent outings in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 reinforced the need for the equipment for the greater good of the sport. The Men in Green were on the receiving end of many controversial umpiring decisions during
the opening Test at Galle after the Lankan board could not bear the expenditure cost of having the technology at their disposal. Pakistan eventually went onto lose the series by 1-0.
The International Cricket Council had enforced the use of DRS in all officially recognized series however, this notion was opposed a year later by the BCCI. This caused the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 to overturn their decision, making DRS optional for any series, provided the
contesting teams mutually agree
Pakistan’s new T20 captain, Hafeez, said that it is up to the higher cricket governing body to ensure that the technology is made mandatory across all formats, which will lead to greater accuracy.
“One thing I want to say is that it is time for the highest authorities to make a decision about the DRS,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898. “It should be made compulsory for every game.”
BCCI, on the other hand, have remained adamant in their stance, claiming that the technology is not fool proof therefore raising doubts overs its universal implementation.
The Men in Blue will play the Aussies in three ODIs, starting from August 28 before contesting in three T20Is, beginning from September 5th.
