I hope someone can help me!

I am trying to set up a wireless connection using AOL speedtouch wireless modem. Go through steps but the DSL light continously light flashs. Wires are firmly connected and everything is done to how they tell me, i am currently on a dial up called "dialbb", at 890.0Kbps. And its using a BT Voyager 105 modem. My DSL is obviously working because the modem works but doesnt when setting up wireless.

Anyone help me, all help is better than none so all help is great.

  1. From what you're saying, you need to uninstall the software for the BT Voyager 105 modem from add/remove programs in the control panel.

    I'm assuming you have a Speedtouch 585, 586 or similar wireless router.

    You should then connect your speedtouch to the phone line, making sure that the Voyager is disconnected altogether from PC & line, and connect by ethernet cable to initially set up.

    Go into network connections in control panel & remove any references to dial up or voyager connections.

    Open up Internet explorer, type http://speedtouch.lan into the address bar, and click 'go'.

    This should take you to the router's web pages.

    Click on 'broadband connection' & enter your ISP details (If you're unsure, AOL will talk you through this).

    Hit 'connect' & you'll be online.

    Check the speedtouch manual for configuring wireless.

    If you don't have a manual, it's here;

  2. What I think you are trying to do is to swap out the BT Voyager 105 and put the AOL Speedtouch in its place in order to get wireless networking. Is that correct?

    Old: Phone line ---- BT --- computer

    New: Phone line ---- AOL --- computer

    It almost has to be from what you described, but I just wanted to make sure it's not the AOL in series behind the BT such that you have:

    Phone line ----- BT ----- AOL --- computer

    If the DSL light is flashing at a steady rate such as on and off every half second, your modem is not getting DSL sync. If this is indeed the case, you probably need to contact your ISP. There is something about their DSL configuration you need to set up in the AOL Speedtouch. Most likely it's some sort of protocol setting or logon credentials (i.e., username and password).

    This excruciatingly long post might help. (Speedtouch is mentioned in there a number of times.) http://www.the-scream.co.uk/forums/showt...
