  1. Most cordless phones and Wireless G signals run on the same frequency (2.4GHz). It could be that your cordless phone completely overpowers the router signal and disconnects your computer when it rings. Try unhooking all of your cordless phones and calling your house from a cell phone. Also try plugging your PC directly into the router (assuming that it is currently running on a wireless connection.) See if that fixes things. If it does I recommend replacing your cordless phones with one that runs either in the 900MHz or 5GHz range. Both are available anywhere that sells phones.

If unplugging the phones does not fix it, something is not set up correctly and it is probably not your fault. If this is the case you need to talk to verizon. Your DSL may be hooked up on the same line as your phone. I believe they filter it, but in some cases the DSL should be hooked up to it's own line - (just as if you had two phone lines running into your house.) The internet may be working because they have the filter on there properly, but the phone completely blocks and cuts off the internet signal.

Definitely check the cordless phone first, it is the most common issue with computers losing internet. Also be aware that the microwave also puts out 2.4GHz radiation, and it could be another source of interference. Other devices in this range are bluetooth headsets. All of these could be issues, so if it appears that interference is your problem move the router and PC as far as possible from all of these devices.

Good luck!! I will be happy to advise you further if you need it

  2. Wiring issue.  Your phone line wire is broken somewhere or unstable.  Get an phone technician to check your wires.

  3. try changing the channel the router works on to 3 or 11  you have some interference this might help

  4. Are you using the filter on your phones?  There is a filter that you connect to your phones to help prevent this from happening.  Generally, the company provides them to you.
