DSL speed help?

I'm looking to get Earthlink DSL. I know the further you are from the DSL tower, the slower your speed is. Is there a way to check how good the signal strength is here?

ask them about the distance, even if they tell you that u can qualify for the fastest speed ask them how far are you from the central office (or what's the loop length) if the distance is from 0 ft to 5,000 ft then you can get the fastest speed they handle, if its from 0 ft to 13,500 ft you could get up to 1.5 mbps, if 0 to 18,000 you can request the lowest speed (might be 768kbps) if 18,000 ft+ don't even lose your time, it wont work ok, if a sales rep cant give you the loop length try via tech supp
