Question:

DSLR Camera Problem?

So, I've had my camera for a matter of days, and so far its a great camera. Well, this morning I placed the battery in the camera just like normal. The camera wouldn't turn on. So, I figured that the battery was just out of juice so I went ahead and completely charged it, which didn't help. So, I called Canon and they said it was either a problem with the camera, battery, or charger. So, I went ahead and got a new battery, and it still doesn't work. No matter what I've done, the camera simply won't turn on. I have never dropped the camera or bumped it into something. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to try to fix the camera before I sent it in.

The Camera that I have is the Canon EOS 40D though if you have advice that helped with a different DSLR I'd still like to hear it. Thanks, Cheers.

  1. How Weird..

This is the second question i'm answering today in regards to the battery of the 40d, or the 40d itself malfunctioning right after they got it.. perhaps canon is going to have a major recall on their hands. Unfortunately, until you buy a new charger, you can't rule out the camera body being defective vs. the batteries.

However, if you get a charger, and a new battery ( which you already got, and it stil doens't work, the camera is obviouly defective, and it'll have to be serviced..

    you can contact:

    http://usa.canon.com

in regards to that, you're going to have to send it in, and it's not going to cost you a thing, other than shipping, which is close to nothing anyway.

  2. If it is a new camera send it back for repairs. Canon is a good company, they will make you whole again.

  3. Return it for an exchange from the dealer you bought it from.

  4. First open the battery chamber and inspect it to see if the battery contacts are clean and not out of alignment. If you only have the camera for a matter of days, send it back to Canon for repair. it should be under warranty.
