DT Phil Taylor off PUP, ready for Cleveland Browns vs Baltimore Ravens – NFL News
The Cleveland Browns, who are up against another tougher opposition – the Baltimore Ravens – this Sunday (Nov. 04), have made some urgent changes on the defensive line to consolidate overall strength, probably keeping in mid the high-paced offence that Ravens
quarterback Joe Flacco has been enjoying this season.
As per official announcement from the team, defensive tackle Phil Taylor has been take off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list and will be on the field against the Ravens.
Phil himself has not spoken about the unexpected emergence of the prospect but some commentators who have been tracking the Browns’ progress closely see it a strategic move to counter the opposition offence.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Ravens have lately started relying on their offence for wins, shunning their traditional total-defence-reliance approach.
Flacco has often boasted to have been enjoying the faster offence scheme under the supervision of new QBs coach Jim Caldwell.
The Browns are desperate but struggling for victories to move up in American Football Conference (AFC) North from the bottom position they are standing at the moment, and apparently are targeting the reshuffle in defence to challenge Flacco and others.
Irrespective of the question about the outcome of the sudden change in the defensive strategy by the team, it appears to be right move given the team lacks strength on the offensive line.
It might be that young QB Brandon Weeden struggles again and in dearth of scoring chances, they can attempt to stop the opposition from free scoring opportunities.
Pertinently, it is one of the rare moves the team has made since start of the season, which some game punters suggest should be regularly made given the team already has lost six games in a row and with only two wins they do not have much to lose now.
Overall, the team’s performance is very much in line with their record of last five or six years, and with half of the season through they are very much on the course to finish yet another one with four or five wins. The next game will nevertheless give
a clean-sweep opportunity to the Ravens. They already have won one game against Browns earlier in the season, and are favourites to win the second and last tie of the series.
