DT Shaun Smith seeks to join another team after Tennessee Titans cut – NFL News
Veteran defensive tackle Shaun Smith has been exploring prospects of joining another team in the National Football League (NFL) following sudden release by the Tennessee Titans due to an unknown reason.
Shaun tweeted on Wednesday to confirm the news of his waiver by the Titans. Although he did not appear to be very pleased about the outcome, he said he was exploring the options to play for another team this season.
Unfortunate for him that he could manage only one tackle in the two preseason games and it was apparently dissatisfaction of the team over his performance that prompted the cut.
The player while regretting the decision said he should have made better decision in his life but remained persistent that he was making efforts to put his career back on the track.
Health – more precisely weight – was one of the issues confronting and hurting immediate future progression of the player. Lately, he lost some weight but did not improve in the form. Still, as reflective in his remarks and some commentators also note with
caution, he should have been given a chance by the team.
Shaun did not elaborate if he had been approached by any team with an interest to explore prospects of his signing. It appears on the surface of his tweets that it is only the player who has been talking the possibility of moving elsewhere and no side has
shown serious interest so far in his hiring.
The Titans on the other hand are silent about the release of Shaun and if they are seeking to replace him with any other fresh signing. The team had remained below the mark in the defence performance last season, and second year coach Mike Munchak appears
to be very serious about tackling the problem.
Munchak has already picked up a pair of defensive players from this year’s draft and might be interested to bring in another fresh hiring. So far no official from Tennessee has hinted at exploring the latter option, which may not be on the cards at all given
that the team also had signed a pair of defensive tackles in the last year’s draft.
