Question:

DTV requirements?

I am finally "updating" my home TV system to a Digital model.

I am able to buy a DTV converter that I am to route to my analog TV.

Do the Digital TV's receive Digital signal, so I will not need this DTV converter - or will I need this converter box with a new Digital TV set?

I use a simple "Rabbit ear" 300 Ohm antenna at home.

Thanks.

  1. Any hd tv will work with over air transmissions without the need for a converter box.

Before buying a converter box for your older tv, get the FCC coupon at:

    https://www.dtv2009.gov/

Also, I'd wait because the prices are sure to come down ($52 at Walmart now) by the end of the year or begining of next.

  2. You will need the convertor box for your old analog TV.

You would not need the convertor  box with the new digital TV if is has a digital tuner in it. You have to be careful though , if is says  "digital ready" or some other phrase it won't have a digital tuner therefore you would  either have to but an additional digital tuner or use the convertor  box.
