DTV transition?

I have satellite service from DirectTV. From what I'm hearing, if you already have cable/satellite service, then you don't need to buy a converter box. Is this correct? I'm just a bit confused. thanks!

  1. That's right. The converter box is only for receiving over-the air (antenna) TV. Your satellite box already does all the reception for you. But you probably need to pay extra if you want HD channels, and maybe get a different box.
