Okay im due October 22nd... according to the last time a had a "period"... and that "period" only lasted two days... when i ALWAYS have a 7 day flow... now im measuring a couple weeks larger... and the doctors have yet to change my due date.... im so confused. i look like im about to pop... (i also have gestational diabetes but i've been managing it with diet and excercise so i don't think the baby could be getting big cause of what i eat) has this ever happened to anyone where the measurements were wrong and you went in "early" according to you LMP?

its my first pregnancy so i really dont know what to do...

  1. There is really nothing to do but sit back and enjoy the pregnancy. I was told the same thing that I was measuring larger. Every baby grows at a different rate. When your doctor has a the ultrasound done they will know your date for sure. Plus if you have gestational diabetes the baby will be larger. It is a side effect of that. The doctor will monitor you though so it will all be ok. Don't worry so much because everything will be ok. Just follow your doctors directions.

  2. The GD will cause the baby to be bigger, even if you are managing it by diet and exercise.

  3. Although doctors make it sound like they know exactly when you're due, they are only estimating.  Your 2 day period just sounds like break-through spotting after you were already pregnant.  Don't worry about it and the baby will come when he/she is ready.

  4. Honestly, due dates are just an approximation. Never for sure. Good luck on your baby! I hope you two are perfectly heathy!

  5. I measured 2wks large based on my lmp and had my son at 38wks.  I am 100% sure of when I ovulated as well. I figure I just had a fast cooker, my husband was born 4wks early and was 7.5lbs.

  6. Most doctors won't change the due date unless it is off by more than two weeks. They will go by your LMP unless the early ultrasound is off by more than two weeks, then they will go by the ultrasound. They won't change it for a later ultrasound as they aren't as accurate.

  7. They are doing the same thing with me.  They said that my baby is measuring about 3 wks bigger than what my last LMP was.  My doctor isn't going to change my due date either.  I am happy about that because my son was 2 weeks over due about so I will take that extra 3 weeks this time!!  I also feel like I am going to pop any day now and I wish I would.  Keep me posted on how it is going if you would.  Good luck.

  8. Your due date could be perfectly fine. A Doctor wont change a due date because of larger measurements because they are only a guess, simple things like belly fat, fluid retained or even a larger lunch can push the measurements out. The best way to get a proper EDD is to have an ultrasound where they measure your baby's head, stomach, and leg bones to determine where they sit within the norms of baby sizes to give you a due date. I am 35 weeks and already measure 40cm, my dates are correct, I just measure larger and I have in each pregnancy (last one I was 10cm out the whole way). I would query it with your Doc next visit.

  9. just relax your body will tell you when your baby is ready to come it wont matter if theres a due date change or not it is gonna come when its ready no one will change that good luck and try to relax!

  10. the due date isn't important baby will come when it wants to. my doctors are going by a 2nd oct delivery and im going off the 27th Sep in the end it doesn't matter.

  11. I am going through the same thing!  My last period was very light and not a true blood color as it should have been, and my doctor is calculating me the same way yours is.  My doctor gave me an official due date of April 2nd, but is very sure that I will deliver before that, but he wont move my due date either.

  12. Ok. I had the same situation, GD and all, lol. I was due dec 4th by lmp, and the doctor kept changing it due to the size of the baby. First it was the 4th. Then the 10th. Then the 9th. Then the 19th. I had her by unplanned c-section on the 14th because an ultrasound that morning estimated her to be 9 lbs 13 oz, and my water had been leaking for almost a week(only in mornings so I thought it was urine, lol). Unfortunately, although GD is managable with diet and exercise, it still makes the baby be bigger, usually. I was borderline the entire time, but it's the normal stuff(pasta, bread, and other carbs that increase your blood sugar, not the actual sweets) If you're skinnier to begin with, you will look huge for a while towards the end. I am a BBW, lol, and I was waddling around by about 7 1/2 months. But I am also a smoker, and for me it turned out to be a good thing, my daughter was completely healthy and only weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. So ultrasounds are not reliable. They do go a couple of weeks either way. But anytime after 37 weeks is considered full gestation, so you could go in early october. However, being you're first, it's more usual to go later. Unless you're my cousin, lol who went a week and half early with her son a few weeks ago :D It's the hard part now, but since it's your first, you can SLEEP. Do it now, lol, it took almost two months after my daughter was born to get a full night's sleep. Even with my roommate and my boyfriend willing to tend her while I slept.

Relax, enjoy yourself, and have fun.

    Good luck!
