DV cable used for coping tape to DVD?

Question

I try to copy tape (from camcorder) to dvd using a ieee 1394 dv cable. Tape is from a JVC camcorder and DVD recorder is a Toshiba. Can anyone advice me what dv cable I should buy? How do I know the size of cable (like 4 pin port to 6 port? or 4 to 4) ? Also please let me know where can I buy this cable? Thanks so much.

You are interested in the Firewire 400 cable ends - also known as IEEE1394a.

Since we don't know where you are, recommending a buying location is a bit of a challenge. And we don't know if your Toshiba DVD recorder uses 4-pin or 6-pin.

The six pin is rarely used anywhere except for a computer connection. Not all DVD recorders have the DV connector, but some do and it should be a 4 pin.  so 4-4 pin.

Most electronic stores will have the cable, and you might try computer outlets as well.
