I have a DVD-R dvd and I was using DivX to burn my movie from Windows Movie Maker. The burning went fine but when I played it on my dvd player is kept saying Disc Error or unknown disc. Do those dvds play on dvd players? It works on the computer fine. I'm at a loss.

  1. Most DVD players can't play divx videos. You could either buy a DVD player that can play divx movies or buy software to make a DVD. (If you have Vista, you can use Windows DVD Maker.)

  2. You have to convert your video to DVD format (VOB or MPEG-2) at first, then burn it to DVD, or else it can't play on general DVD player, if you don't know how to convert and burn DVD, you may take a look at this step by step guide
