Why should I buy Component cables to hook up to my TV from my DVD player, Why not use RCA cables?

  1. Component cables ARE RCA cables.

    But video and audio RCA cables are different.

    Video cables must be made with something called "75 ohm" coax.

    The Red/White RCA cables can be made with 50, 75, 110 ohm coax.

    So 3 identical Yellow RCA cables can be used instead of a component cable set. But they need to be identical length and you would like them to be the same brand if possible.
