Question:

DVD Recorder-player question : Make LG Model RH188?

I've had this recorder for over a year. It's multi-region. But sometimes it refuses to play (at all) some DVDs, not recognising them. Discs aren't scratched, no fingerprintes. Soemtimes it gets stuck in the middle of a movie, requiring switchi-off and tedious re-start. Anyone else get this problem?

  1. i have a DVD recorder i don't get your problems i think it may be your Lazar or some thing to do with your software breaking down get it checked out.

  2. I have an LG DR1F9H

I have the exact problem.  It has decided it doesn't like certain types of media.  Like memorex dvd-r's...of course, I bought a 100 of them.

Yep, it will turn itself off if it "freaks out"...and you know, when it starts up it reads the disk...again and you can't stop it until it's done.

I was looking for firmware updates, with no luck.  I just recently, put my $50 phillips player in its place so I can watch AVI files.

I've pretty much given up on this $200 doorstop.

  3. I'm sorry to say, but despite the many "Ooh, aren't LG products wonderful?" wafflers you may see posting here, their products are actually quite low quality.

Twelve months is pretty good for an LG.  Time to bin it and buy something decent...

  4. I don't have a DVD recorder but i have one Brocksonic Video DVD combi and a Samsung DVD player and also a Philips portable TV with a DVD built in and i can tell you that i get fed up of them all refusing to play, recognise discs, freezing etc...i think it's the technology thats still in it's c**p stages
