  1. I have Sony RDR-HXD860, which I bought last year. It is a DVD recorder with a 160Gb Hard Drive and an integrated Freeview receiver.

It is absoluetely superb, and has changed the way I watch TV. Playback is also excellent, and it upscales the picture to 1080i.

My Dad has a Toshiba unit that does the same kind of thing, but it is horrendously complicated, whereas the Sony works like a charm.

I believe that a new range has since been released, but have a look on Kelkoo and you should be able to pick one up for around £300. Single and multi region players available, so make sure you specify you want multi.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Any of the Liteon HDD recorders will do the trick. (Check out Ebay) I personally use a Funai 250Gb HDD one that I bought on Ebay 6 months ago & it is superb. It costs about £160 & was delivered within 2 days.

  4. Sony RDR-HXD870.

    DVD recorder.

    160gb hard-drive.

    Built-in Freeview.

I have an RDR-HXD560 - it was Region free, straight from the box.
