Question:

DVD / Stereo requires hit on the head to work?

This seems pretty odd, but it is actually true.

I have a Initial DMA-710 mini DVD system that worked very well when I first bought it. Over time however, after inserting a DVD or CD, it would sometimes say "No Disc" instead of load, and then wouldn't play.

Eventually, the occurrence of this incident has risen to 99% of the time. RARELY does it ever pick up the disc at all. Recently, I became frustrated with it when trying to play a DVD for some friends, and I bopped the player on the top, and what's this?? It worked!

Since then, whenever I play something, the second the tray closes, I give it a light smack on the top and it loads.

Now, I have to sell some things because I need the money, and I wanted to sell the stereo but I don't think I could get much for it like this. I paid almost $180 for it new and would hate to sell it for $20.

Does anyone know how to fix this??

Thanks so much!

  1. You have enjoyed the player nicely and it has paid back for itself well. Don't think about the low price you might get for it.

It's time to get a new player.
